The General Commander of the Police, Bernardino Rafael, has urged the Border Guard to strengthen security at all border posts in Mozambique, saying that weaknesses at the country’s borders could permit terrorists to enter the national territory.
Ressano Garcia, the country’s busiest border post, is incidentally the location of the first Border Police barracks, built by the General Police Command of the Republic of Mozambique, with a foundation stone laid by Bernardino Rafael himself.
The main point of the speech was the strengthening of border security, taking as an example the armed attacks in Cabo Delgado. Bernardino Rafael also urged personnel to look after the infrastructure.
The facility has a number of building, including an administrative block, dormitory suites for commanders, a cafeteria, two blocks of communal dormitories and cells.
