The Ministry of Education and Human Development is meeting in Maputo today to harmonise its strategy for restarting face-to-face classes currently interrupted due to Covid-19.
“This Monday,” Ministry of Education and Human Development spokeswoman Gina Guibunda told Radio Mozambique, “the provincial directors of education, as well as the heads of the Department of Education of the provincial Social Affairs Services, will be with us in the Ministry of Education and Human Development. The idea is that, during the meeting, we will go over the level of preparedness, and have the provincial directors share their experience in this field before designing a unique strategy.”
Guibunda promised that all schools involved in the first phase of the resumption of face-to-face classes would have the coronavirus screening materials necessary to prevent the virus from multiplying in educational establishments.
“We will be monitoring daily, and if a confirmed case is detected, the school will be closed immediately, so that other students do not become contaminated,” she stressed.
It is hoped that about 200,000 students in Grade 12 and the last year of teacher training will be returning to classrooms this month.
