Construction of a public health laboratory that will be able to test for the Covid-19 coronavirus in Cabo Delgado began this Wednesday.
The laboratory being built at Pemba Provincial Hospital will also be able to carry out tests for other diseases, as well as any epidemic that may arise in the future.
Health officials in Cabo Delgado hope the laboratory will reduce the time taken to obtain diagnostic results.
The laboratory will cost about US$370,000.00, money provided by the French multinational intending to extract gas in the Rovuma basin.
