Mozambique: Truck drivers stopped at Zóbuè border – Watch

On May 23, Mozambican truck drivers with expired passports were refused passage at the Zóbuè border crossing in Moatize district, Tete province,. The National Migration Service has clarified that passports are not among the documents cited by the presidential decree as valid beyond their expiry date.
National truck drivers who their trips interrupted on the 23rd of this month insisted that the presidential state of emergency decree allowed the use of expired documents, but the National Migration Service says that travel documents were not included in this provision.
Malawi, the final destination of the truck drivers concerned, is in the midst of an election campaign, and Covid-19 prevention measures are said not to be strictly observed there, Miramar reports.
