Mozambique: Vaccine rejection threatens polio immunization of 680,000 children, Gaza Governor warns

Mozambique confirmed eight more Covid-19 cases from Sunday (17) to Monday (18), bringing the cumulaive number of persons who have so far been infected in the country to 145, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday (May 18).
Six of newly confirmed Covid-19 cases are in Maputo City; one is in Maputo Province (Marracuene District); and one in Cabo Delgado Province (Palma District Headquarters).

In the last 24 hours, the country also recorded two more recoveries, both male, one of Mozambican nationality and one other of Indian nationality. This bring the number of recovered patients in Mozambique to 46.
At today’s press conference of the Ministry of Health, the National Director of Public Health, Rosa Marlene, said that the country currently has 1,900 individuals under quarantine.
So far, 6,272 suspected cases have been tested, of which 261 in the last 24 hours.
MISAU reported that, seven of the eight persons who tested positive for Covid-19 have mild symptom and hat they are three females and five males, with ages ranging from 15 to over 60 years of age.
One of those infected was recently in South Africa.
