Mozambican president studies measures to reduce the cost of basic food basket
The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) says that the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) should try to establish mechanisms to help companies in difficulties to pay workers’ wages, with the INSS replying that the funds contributed by workers do not cover such a claim.
CTA’s position was made known by the head of its Labour Policy Department, António Sousa, who advocates National Social Security Institute intervention to save jobs put at risk by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Director for Social Security at INSS Edson Domingos however replies that the INSS does not have sufficient funds to pay wages as per the CTA request, because of the nature of contributions paid by the workers.
