Transport sector state of emergency Covid-19 counter-measures are being ignored in Matola, Miramar reports, with carriers ignoring maximum capacity measures.
At transport terminals in Matola, the infractions start with close-knit queues, passengers ignoring social distancing, and only some wearing masks.
Carriers in turn board passengers above the numbers determined, many leaving full and packing yet more in along the way.
But carriers say that observing the three-passengers-per-row rule [on minibuses] would break them financially.
Passengers waiting long hours in queues feel sabotaged by the transporters.
Some would like to observe the rules, but passengers pressure them, preferring to travel overcrowded than wait any longer.
Our reported tried to contacted the Matola municipality spokesperson to ascertain the position of the municipal police, but he remained unavailable up until the deadline for filing.
