The provincial government in Cabo Delgado may propose to limit the departure of people to other parts of the country in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus, O País online reported yesterday.
The possibility was mentioned by the Secretary of State for Cabo Delgado, Armindo Ngunga, during a meeting of the Emergency Operative Committee in Pemba city on Monday.
“We would have to set up some reinforced checkpoints between Cabo Delgado and the neighbouring provinces [Nampula and Niassa], so that the coronavirus does not leave here,” ‘O Pais’ quotes Armindo Ngunga as saying.
In a further effort to control the spread of Covid-19 in Cabo Delgado, the provincial government hopes to install a testing laboratory in the province.
Cabo Delgado has the most coronavirus cases of all the provinces in Mozambique.
