Mozambique today announced the first recovery of one of the 10 officially confirmed cases of infection with the new coronavirus in the country.
In Mozambique there is no record of deaths from Covid-19 and the cases detected have mild symptoms.
“One of the cases is already cured. That person is fully recovered,” explained Rosa Marlene, Mozambique’s national director of public health, at a press conference in Maputo.
Marlene spoke at the daily brefing with journalists in which the situation of the pandemic in the country is made.
She said that, from the ramifications of contacts with cases of infection, there are currently 196 people under surveillance, all without health problems.
The laboratory of the Mozambican National Institute of Health (INS) tested 24 suspected cases in the last 24 hours, all of them turning out negative.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Mozambique has conducted out 338 tests for Covid-19.
Rosa Marlene further said that health authorities will recommend the use of mask by the population, highlighting the need to comply with all precautionary measures, namely, hand washing.
The country lives in a state of emergency throughout the month of April with the closure of spaces for entertainment and leisure, prohibition of all types of events, crowds of more than 20 people and limitations in the capacity of transport.
During the same period, schools are closed and the issuance of visas to enter the country is suspended.
The security forces are now allowed to intervene to enforce the measures, which may also include limitations on circulation, in the event of an exponential rise in cases.
The new coronavirus, responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic, has already infected more than one million people worldwide, of whom more than 57,000 have died and more than 205,000 are considered cured.
