The Maputo Central Hospital (HCM) yesterday started a facility-wide disinfection process using alcohol-based cleaning agents as part of its Covid-19 prevention measures.
The cleaning was carried out by young volunteers supported by the company LIN Limpezas, and concentrated on areas where there would be greater concentrations of people, such as consultation waiting rooms.
The director general of LIN Limpezas, Lineu Candeeiro, said that the HCM disinfection would take place on alternate days instead of the twice a day recommended by the World Health Organisation, because of limits on the resources available.
Candeeiro called on all entities to support the initiative and provide cleaning products such as alcohol, gel, gloves and masks so that work could continue uninterrupted.
