Breakdown at Temane station restricts power supply to 5 Inhambane districts and Machanga, Sofala – reports

Mechanical failure at the Temane Power Station is affecting the supply of electricity to Mabote, Inhassoro, Govuro and Vilankulo districts in the north of Inhambane province, and Machanga, in the southern part of Sofala.
A statement from Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) notes that parts will have to be imported to repair the fault.
No estimate of the time required for these to arrive could be made, the company said, since both suppliers and manufacturers alike were experiencing constraints on operations due to the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak.
EDM meanwhile calls on customers and the general public to ration their use of electricity.
