COVID-19: Tete prisons suspend visits, delivery of food to inmates

The prison services in Tete province has suspended visits to prisoners as a measure to prevent the spread of the new Covid-19 coronavirus.
In addition to visits to penitentiary units, meal deliveries to the inmates have also been suspended until the situation returns to normal, the provincial director of the penitentiary services in Tete said.
Francisco Mate said that the measures were in compliance with instructions issued by the General Directorate of Prison Services, and were aimed at protecting prisoners and their families.
