Mozambique: Independence day attracts vendors to stadium, optimism about future

Eight suspected cases of the new coronavirus have tested negative yesterday and today in Maputo. Mozambique has no confirmed case of Covid-19, health officials said this Thursday.
Of the eight suspected cases identified on Wednesday and Thursday, three are Mozambican and five are foreigners.
One if the tested patients is an 11-month-old baby, the other a teenager and the other six are adult individuals.
The exposure history shows that three of tem had travelled to China, three had had contact with individuals from a country with cases of the disease, one had travelled to Germany and another to Italy. They all tested negative.
The negative results include two cases detected at the Maputo Private Hospital and at the Heart Institute [Instituto do Coração].
The Deputy National Director of the National Institute of Health, spoke to the press on the sidelines of a meeting held by the Ministry of Health with public transport operators, with a view to proving guidelines and measures to prevent coronavirus in this particular environment.
A lot of hygiene and compliance with the number of sits allowed inside transport vehicles were among the several recommendations left by health authorities.
The meeting with the transporters was preceded by a meeting with the diplomatic corps an with public and private clinics.
