The French navy will support its Mozambican counterpart in matters of education and training, in order to help it counter drug smuggling and illegal fishing in the coastal region of Mozambique.
A French navy frigate has been moored in Maputo since Friday as part of a four-day visit, and, in parallel, France’s ambassador to Mozambique, David Izzo, said that the two countries would share experiences.
Frigate Captain in the Mozambican navy, Carlos Cossa, said that Mozambique and France shared responsibility for maintaining security in the Indian Ocean.
