Mozambique: President Chapo wants broad debate on press and broadcasting laws - CSCS

The President of the Republic this Thursday dissolved, by presidential decree, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security (MITESS) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MJD), replacing them with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MITSS), the Secretariat of State for Youth and Employment, and the Secretariat of State for Sports.
The head of state appointed Oswaldo Armindo Faquir Petersburgo to the post of Secretary of State for Youth and Employment, and Carlos Gilberto Mendes to the post of Secretary of State for Sports.
The Presidency clarifies that, with the dissolution of MITESS and MJD, “the competences, functions, the human, material and financial resources of the Employment sector are transferred to the Secretariat of State for Youth and Employment”.
The competences, functions, the human, material and financial resources of the Youth sector are transferred to the Secretariat of State for Youth and Employment, and the competences, functions, the human, material and financial resources of the Sports sector are transferred to the Sports Secretariat.
The attributions, competences and internal organisation of the new bodies will be defined in specific diplomas, a statement from the Presidency cited by ‘O País’ explains.
The head of the defunct Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, in this case Margarida Talapa, now becomes Minister of Labour and Social Security.
In another dispatch, President Nyusi appointed Carlos Jorge Siliya Combatants’ Minister.
