Mozambique: Chapo and Aga Khan sign agreement - AIM
Mozambique and Swaziland will harness water across the Lomahasha border in a project aimed to supply 45 000 people from both countries with clean water by 2024, APA reports on Thursday.
Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy Winnie Stewart says this is part of the pledge Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) made to during the 27th Water Resources Technical Committee meeting held yesterday.
The SADC countries pledged to help each other recover from the El Nino phenomenon, which resulted to drought in the region.
The tree-day meeting is held at the Happy Valley Resort in Ezulwini where countries in attendance include South Africa, Mauritius, Lesotho, Mozambique and Namibia.
In this regard we have advanced initiatives to jointly implement projects with our neighbouring states to ensure that the benefits are spread across countries, says the PS.
