National Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE) is putting together teams to control price speculation across the country during the upcoming festive season.
As December comes, everyone wants to party, celebrate and shop a lot. But that’s where the danger lies: traders may be tempted to take advantage and raise prices above the 25 percent allowed by law.
The INAE is preparing to deploy 12 teams to monitor all provinces in the country, including a central brigade that will patrol all commercial establishments in Mozambique.
Being within a certain price range, the INAE warns, does not necessarily mean there are no price variations. If there are good reasons for higher or lower prices, the variation will be accepted.
Another focus of INAE activities is preventing the sale of alcoholic beverages on the country’s beaches, but, as this campaign is run in partnership with municipal authorities and the police, the INAE does not provided specific figures for it.
