Mozambican Airlines (LAM) is having difficulty securing landing slots at Lisbon Airport, a situation which could jeopardise the start of operations scheduled for March next year.
The announcement of the start of operations was made during President Nyusi’s last visit to Portugal, but apparently not everything was in place, leaving the return of the Mozambique Airlines to European air space hanging in the balance.
Although conditions for introducing the flights into the ticketing system do not yet obtain, LAM Director General João Carlos Jorge hopes that the situation will be remedied by the end of the year.
With the development of the gas industry in Mozambique, other destinations in addition to Lisbon may arise – but a lack of means could yet thwart the ambitions of the national flag carrier.
