President Nyusi has received a message from his Kenyan counterpart, Uhuru Kenyatta, congratulating him on his re-election in the general elections and on Frelimo victories in the provincial assembly elections of 15 October 2019, Noticias reported on Wednesday (November 6).
In a letter signed on 28 October, making him one of the first African heads of state to congratulate his Mozambican counterpart, President Kenyatta says he has received the news of President Nyusi’s victory in the recent general elections with great joy.
“In my own name, from the Government and people of Kenya, I extend warm congratulations to you and through you to the people of the great Republic of Mozambique,” President Kenyatta’s message reads.
According to President Kenyatta, the victory is a clear testimony to the confidence that the people of the Republic of Mozambique have in President Nyusi’s skilful leadership in continuing to lead the nation along the path of socio-economic transformation and prosperity, and clear evidence of the deepening level of democracy in the country.
“I am convinced that your second term will provide us with the opportunity to continue to nurture and raise the excellent relations between our two countries to strategic levels for the mutual benefit of our citizens. In this sense, my commitment and determination remain as loyal as ever, ” the Kenyan statesman emphasises, adding that he has no doubt that both heads of state will continue to implement the decisions taken at the various high-level meetings and will further create renewed momentum towards accomplishing the aspirations of the peoples of the two nations.
Filipe Nyusi also received a message of congratulations from the President of ExxonMobil Oil & Gas Company, Liam Mallon, on his re-election and provincial assembly wins.
A press release seen by Noticias Online indicates that Mallon, on behalf of ExxonMobil, congratulates President Nyusi on his re-election and expresses best wishes for a successful second term.
ExxonMobil, Mallon writes, hopes to continue to strengthen its highly valued partnership, working to honour its commitments to the Mozambican people.
“We have made significant progress in the Rovuma LNG project in a short period of time and take this opportunity to express our appreciation for your leadership, which led to the success of the Project Energy, Procurement and Construction (APC) award ceremony Rovuma LNG for the JGC-Flour-Technic FMC consortium on October 8th,” the ExxonMobil message reads.
The Mozambican head of state also received a message from the Secretary General of the Church of the Twelve Apostles of Christ in Mozambique, Julio Francisco Machava, congratulating President Nyusi and the Frelimo party on their victory in the recent elections in his personal name and in the name of the religious community which he represents.
“We long for the bonds of friendship that have characterised our relationship to be perpetuated and, as written in the Holy Bible, in the Letter of St Paul to the Romans, chapter 13, verse 1, to continue wisely to lead the country successfully and in prosperity, which we desire in this mandate.”
