emprego.co.mz, the largest online job board in Mozambique, has just expanded to the Angolan market, exactly on the day it celebrated its 4th anniversary, May 1st, also coinciding with the International Workers’ Day.
This recent investment in the angolan market, with emprego.co.ao, marks the company’s first step towards regional expansion, into other African emerging markets.
For Frederico Silva, CEO of UX Information Technologies, the Mozambican startup responsible for the job portal in question, “the daily visits of thousands of Mozambicans are, not only the proof that our platform achieves its purpose, but also demonstrates the capacity of its reach. Naturally, growth started meaning expansion to other markets and it was only a matter of time.”
The technology enables users to search and find job opportunities, sorted by professional categories and geographic location. Each vacancy includes job requirements, expected duties, as well as information on how to apply. With more than 15 000 daily visits, a little over 10 thousand vacancies published to date, and 1 400 companies and 75 000 candidates currently registered, emprego.co.mz has recently been the subject of significant academic studies, upgrading it into a prime source of information on the labor market in Mozambique.
With its launch on the 1st of May 2012, emprego.co.mz reaches 90% of the national territory, publishing vacancies from various distinct economic sectors. Along these four years, the page was been updated several times, to improve its functionality and in response to the demands of its users, from which two stand out: the incorporation of a blog and the launch of the mobile application.
