Field Ready is an intensive employability programme that prepares people with the skills needed to work in industry. It is supported by the Mozambican Government.
The programme is overseen by the Field Ready Alliance, which includes HCB, Anadarko/Total, Port of Maputo, Sasol, Kenmare Resources, National Authority for Professional Education (ANEP), National Directorate for Technical and Professional Education (DINET), National Petroleum Institute (INP), National Hydrocarbon Company (ENH) and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Higher and Technical Vocational Education.
20 students commenced the programme in February 2019 at the Matola Industrial and Commercial Institute and Nampula Industrial and Commercial Institute, culminating in the Graduation Ceremonies in Maputo on 7th October 2019 and in Nampula on 9th October 2019.
The graduations were attended by more than 40 organisations – including all Field Ready Alliance companies and guests such as Toyota, Vale, CDN, Midal Cables, Applus, Schlumberger, Portos do Norte, Bakhresa, Nova Texmoque, AMB Veritas, Central térmica de Ressano Garcia (CTRG), Intertek, Motorcare and Cimentos de Mozambique.
The programme, taught by instructors of the institutes, includes a highly practical technical programme, unique applied personal skills and HSE taught programme.
During the programme, the students received field experience at Sasol’s plant, Kenmare Resources mine site and Port of Maputo onshore facilities. Students accumulate hours that can be used to enrich their recognition through ANEP.
The second cohort will commence in February 2020 in partnership with the Government. A national selection process of 6 stages has commenced which assesses academic achievement, attitude and aptitude of candidates. The ambition is for 50 students to receive scholarships from companies in 2020.
Gilberto Botas, Country Chair, Field Ready Mozambique said “the Field Ready programme has been a great success, with demonstrable support and collaboration between Mozambique’s leading industrial organisations, the Government of Mozambique and education institutions. Congratulations to the first cohort of 20 graduates who are great ambassadors for Mozambique”.
