Mozambique: ExxonMobil opens up to domestic companies to supply goods and services

The Southern African Customs Union (SACU) member states and Mozambique have signed on Thursday 10th October a new Economic Partnership Agreement with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The signing of the trade agreement comes after the conclusion of negotiations on the 8th September 2019.
The Agreement is intended to provide continuity and certainty in trade amongst the Parties, when the United Kingdom is no longer a member of the European Union.
The Agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by: Honourable Bogolo J. Kenewendo, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of the Republic of Botswana; His Excellency Christian M. Nkambule, High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Eswatini to the United Kingdom; Her Excellency Mrs. Rethabile M. Mokaeane, High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the United Kingdom; Honourable Tjekero Tweya, Minister of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development of the Republic of Namibia; His Excellency Mr. Filipe Chidumo, High Commissioner of the Republic of Mozambique to the United Kingdom; Honourable Ebrahim Patel, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of South Africa and Rt. Honourable Elizabeth Truss, Secretary of State for International Trade of the United Kingdom.
SACU is a trade block made up of Botswana, the Kingdom of Eswatini, the Kingdom of Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa.The ministers reaffirmed the importance of ensuring a smooth implementation of the agreement to achieve its intended objectives through the finalisation of the ratification processes.
The signing of the agreement comes fresh after SACU Member States and the Republic of Mozambique on the one part, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the other part, concluded the negotiations on the Economic Partnership Agreement on 08 September 2019, in Gaborone, Botswana.
