About the event
In this new show, the artist begins a new cycle of her activity. With nature as its main theme, the artist suggests, through the flower, the feminine universe of extreme sensitivity and delicacy, in large patches of color, using this metaphor that simultaneously opposes the force of nature to its fragility. In a brief poetic presentation, Albertina Santos (Tininha) composes based on the titles of the works presented.
This is not a new theme in the artist's painting, as a previous exhibition was curiously named “Sonata à Natureza”. Perhaps now she has focused exclusively on the theme, giving us seemingly simple and carefree compositions, if we do not take into account the technique used by the artist.
Vânia Lemos was born on October 6, 1962 in Maputo. Completed the training course for teachers of history and geography at the Faculty of Education (UEM). She is a self-taught artist, having as reference the work of her father, Eugenio Lemos. She attended the batik course at ART CORE and another at oil painting at Galeria LEMOS School.
Since 1996 she has been working in the studio of professor/master Ulisses Oviedo.
Her first solo exhibition was held in 2000 at the Center for Brazilian Studies in Maputo, entitled “SONATA À NATUREZA’’. In 2004, she held his second solo exhibition at the Camões Institute in Maputo. She won the 2nd Musart Painting Prize at the Mozambican National Art Museum in 2001.
