Biscate represents Mozambique at ITU Telecom World in Budapest, Hungary

The Mozambican Communications Regulatory Authority (ARECOM) has chosen ‘Biscate’ [“odd jobs”] to represent Mozambique at the ITU Telecom World expo, Central Europe’s largest technology trading hub, in Budapest.
Biscate is a public service that allows workers in Mozambique to register their services by USSD (using basic mobile phones) so that clients can search, select, get in touch with, hire and evaluate services.
The UX Software developer, of which ‘Biscate’ is a part, said participating in ITU Telecom World was an opportunity to expose the platform to potential investors and exchange experiences with other innovative start-ups.
“In addition to exposing the Biscate service, we will also be part of a competition called ITU Telecom Awards, which distinguishes technology-based solutions for their innovation and social impact,” Osvaldo Maria added.
Biscate, which was launched in 2016, has a total of 27,000 active workers and over 60,000 customers. In Nampula province, where the platform generates the most job opportunities, 17,100 jobs were created. The most requested services are construction, catering and hairdressing.
