About the event
“I am” is the second album of Mozambican singer Tanselle's consisting of 14 tracks, with a mixture of soul, jazz and afro styles, the album began production in 2014 and was released in 2016, with the production of South African pianist Luyanda Madope.
The rhythms present on the album are the result of the influence she went through in the countries she passed before starting her artistic career. Tanselle has lived in South Africa, Swaziland, Angola and the United States.
The album features guest appearances by renowned Mozambican musician Hortêncio Langa and saxophonist Percy Mbonani.
"I am" is the title that represents me as a woman, as an artist and as a Mozambican, ”says Tanselle.
About Tanselle
Tânia Celeste Manhiça of artistic name Tanselle is the daughter of Ethnomusicologist and author of the National Anthem of Mozambique (Patria Amada), Salomão Manhiça.
She embraced her music career in 2009 and released her first album in 2012, “The African Spell”. In 2014 she released the single “Nguena” which earned the Best Afro Jazz 2015 award at Mozambique Music Awards. A year later they released another single, titled "Destiny" which contains 3 tracks from the album I Am.
