Mozambique: "I looked in the mirror and saw my own disfigured face"

Mozambique and Russia have highlighted defence and security and the mineral resources and energy sectors as priorities for future bilateral cooperation, and have signed five agreements in this context.
The signing in the Kremlin was witnessed by Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin during the official visit of the Mozambican head of state to Russia.
Minister of National Defence Atanasio Mtumuke and Russia’s Secretary of State for Security Alexander Nicolai signed an agreement on the treatment of classified information, with an additional instrument on cooperation in the sector signed with Russian Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Alexander.
Mozambique’s Minister of Mineral Resources Max Tonela also signed with Russian Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Ecology Ergueni Akladis a memorandum of understanding on technical cooperation in geology and underground exploration.
The chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Petroleum Institute, Carlos Zacarias and Rosneft CEO Igor Igor Sechin signed an agreement for cooperation in the field of offshore natural gas exploitation in Mozambique, and also signed, with the director-general of the Russian company Interawal Export, Marx Serguei, a cooperation agreement in the field of electricity generation with Mozambique Electricity (EDM).
On the basis of these and other results, President Nyusi has given his official visit to Russia, which ended on Thursday, a positive assessment.
The Mozambican head of state said that his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, praised Mozambique for the steps taken to achieve effective peace, in a dialogue which also addressed the issue of attacks by unidentified insurgents in Cabo Delgado.
Still on the subject of his official visit to Russia, President Nyusi said he had invited his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to visit Mozambique, and confirmed Mozambique’s participation in the Russia-Africa Summit in October.
