About the event
This is a story that extols the loving suffering of young people and points to death as a solution to the conflicts of the heart. It was written in just fifteen days, when the author, Camilo Castelo Branco, was imprisoned in jail. Based on a true story - the life of an uncle who was trapped in the same prison - the narrative explores the power of feelings as a reason to live.
