The Maputo Metropolitan Transport Agency (AMT) has designed a vehicle to transport people and cargo in hard-to-reach areas with the aim of mitigating transportation deficiencies, O País reports.
These comprise 17 among the 22 light and 4X4 vehicles purchased by the government.
In the first phase, seven of these vehicles will start operating in Maputo, Matola and Boane municipalities on routes that currently have no public transport, and it is expected that, by the end of October, all 22 vehicles will be in service.
The access ladder on the side of the vehicle, shown in the photo above, will be improved to allow people with disabilities – for which the vehicle has a reserved space – to climb aboard without difficulty, O País reports.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Maputo Metropolitan Transport Agency, António Matos, stresses that the vehicle is not a “My Love”, nor is it intended to replace it.
