About the event
This play is an adaptation of some stories that are part of the collection of books that became known as "O Sítio do Pica-pau Amarelo" (The Yellow Woodpecker Farm), by the Brazilian writer Monteiro Lobato. This collection was one of the greatest classics of Brazilian children's literature, written in the beginning of the 20th century.
Emília is a rag doll that was made by Aunt Nastácia, as well as the doll Visconde de Sabugosa. One day Aunt Nastácia is invited to participate in a puppet contest and took with her the two dolls Emilia and Visconde. In fact, there was no contest at all, it was a trap by Cuca the witch. She played a great spell and the dolls came to life. Emilia decides to take revenge on Cuca for all her evildoings. Emilia, because she is free from social obligations imposed by the education of the child, commits with impunity some childish sins such as tantrums, selfishness and stubbornness.
