Mozambique and Cuba are to reinforce bilateral cooperation in the technical-military field, to support peace, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The intention to cooperate more closely was affirmed this Thursday in Maputo at the closing ceremony of the third Counterintelligence, Recognition and Communications Course presented to Mozambican soldiers by Cuban specialists.
At that occasion, Minister of National Defence, Athanasio M’tumuke, called on the trainees to capitalise on the knowledge gained in order to prevent and combat threats to peace and stability.
According to Chief of Staff Lázaro Menete, the Defence Forces of Mozambique could count themselves apprised and updated in several different areas.
For his part, a representative of the Cuban experts said that the trainees were now better prepared to address the protection, security and defence challenges facing the country.
The graduates guaranteed their total commitment and determination to the defence of the mother country, especially in the fight against the insurgents in Cabo Delgado.
The course involved the participation of 143 trainees of both sexes and from various specialties for more than 90 days.
