President Nyusi paying a week-long state visit to Portugal

President of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi starts a week-long state visit to Portugal tomorrow, in response to an invitation from President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa of that country.

The visit of the Mozambican Head of State is part of the consolidation and deepening of relations of friendship and cooperation between Mozambique and Portugal in the bilateral and multilateral domains. It will also be an opportunity for both countries to assess the degree of implementation of the Strategic Cooperation Program. PEC 2017-2021 and the decisions taken at the Third Bilateral Summit, as well as to define strategies for strengthening political, economic and business relations.

During his stay in Portugal, President Filipe Nyusi will hold official talks with President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Prime Minister António Costa of Portugal, as well as participating in the IV Mozambique-Portugal Bilateral Summit and in the Second Edition of the EurAfrican Forum, where he will be a keynote speaker.

The Head of State will also hold a meeting with the Mozambican community living in Portugal, open the Mozambican-Portuguese Business Forum, and witness the signing of 13 legal instruments in areas of common interest in various sectors, as well as visiting enterprises of economic and social interest.

The president will be accompanied on his state visit by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Pacheco; of the Interior, Jaime Basílio Monteiro; of Industry and Commerce, Ragendra de Sousa; by the Deputy Ministers of Mineral Resources and Energy, Augusto Fernando, and of Health, João Leopoldo da Costa; by Members of Parliament and staff of the Presidency of the Republic and other state institutions.

A Mozambican business delegation is also travelling with the president.

The President’s state visit ends on July 8.

O Presidente da República, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, efectua de 02 a 08 de Julho de 2019, uma Visita de Estado à República Portuguesa, em resposta ao convite formulado pelo Presidente daquele país, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

Durante a sua estadia naquele país, o Presidente Nyusi irá manter conversações oficiais com o homólogo português, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa; com o Primeiro Ministro, António Costa; assim comoparticipar na IV Cimeira Bilateral Moçambique-Portugal, e na II Edição do EuroAfrica Forum, onde será o orador principal.

Ainda neste país, o estadista moçambicano irá dirigir um encontro com a comunidade moçambicana residente em Portugal; proceder a abertura do Fórum Empresarial Moçambique-Portugal, bem como testemunhar a assinatura de 13 instrumentos jurídicos em áreas de interesse comum nos vários sectores, para além de visitar empreendimentos de interesse económico e social.

Nesta deslocação, o Presidente da República far-se-á acompanhar pelos Ministros dos Negócios Estrangeiros e Cooperação, José Pacheco; do Interior, Jaime Basílio Monteiro; da Indústria e Comércio, Ragendra de Sousa; Vice-Ministros dos Recursos Minerais e Energia, Augusto Fernando; da Saúde, João Leopoldo da Costa; Embaixador Extraordinário e Plenipotenciário da República de Moçambique junto da República Portuguesa, Joaquim Bule; Deputados da Assembleia da República; Quadros da Presidência da República e de outras instituições do Estado, e de uma delegação empresarial moçambicana.
