Climate change: HCB looking for other ways to generate electricity

The Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Power Plant is conducting a study to find alternative means of energy production, in response to possible future water shortages in the Zambezi River due to climate change.
The study is aimed at facilitating the diversification of the production and sale of electricity both in the Mozambique and the southern region of Africa.
The HCB administrator Moiés Machava told Radio Mozambique that the strategy was to find other sources of electricity production so as to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Speaking in Xai-Xai, Gaza province, Machava said that the Cahora Bassa reservoir was still about ninety-three percent full.
