More than 8,000 Idai displaced Mozambicans from Morrumbala still in Malawi accommodation centre

More than 8,000 Mozambicans affected by Cyclone Idai in the district of Morrumbala in Zambézia province are still living in the Nsange accommodation centre in Malawi.
The Mozambican consul in Blantyre, André Matusse, said that the resumption of normal life in their villages of origin meant their remaining there was no longer justified.
“We knew that some organisations had promised help, and this kept people interested in staying in the camps. But, in terms of concrete conditions for people to return to their home areas, the minimums have been created, and most of the people could now return,” he said.
