Two more of the officially named suspects (‘arguidos’) in the case of the alleged misappropriation of National Institute of Social Security (INSS) funds were detained yesterday.
According to Notícias, they are Ernesto Armando Simango, owner and manager of Arcus Consultores Lda, and José Marcelino Pita Guerreiro, manager of CALMAC, both arrested on orders from the Central Office to Combat Corruption.
The detainees, adds the same source, are to be presented to the Criminal Investigation Court within 48 hours as decreed by law.
In the meantime, the Public Prosecutor’s Office continues to pursue the execution of arrest warrants in relation to those ‘arguidos’ whose whereabouts are currently unknown.
The arrest of former Labour Minister Helena Taipo, also declared an ‘arguida’ in the case, was recently legalised.
