The Mozambique police force, the PRM, is to carry out a thorough census of its personnel in order to detect and expel suspected counterfeit agents, the commander-in-chief of the corporation, Bernardino Rafael, has said.
Rafael said that the operation would facilitate the enumeration of police agents and their ranks, qualifications and other data relevant to the organisation and operation of the PRM.
“We will detect the counterfeit police officers. There are also many deserters and others who are making improper use of police insignia to extort citizens,” Rafael said.
The initiative precedes the issuing of new police identification cards and uniforms, the PRM commander-in-chief added.
