About the film
Sofia, a young girl in Mozambique who is studying to be a doctor, finds that her professor wants more from her than hard work. An unwillingness to compromise her values and potentially her health, may cost her a place there.
About Sol de Carvalho
João Luis Sol de Carvalho was born in Beira, Mozambique, in 1953. He grew up in Inhambane. He studied at the National Conservatory of Cinema, in Lisbon, and works as a journalist, editor and photographer, as well as producing numerous documentaries and television programs. Sol de Carvalho was a founding partner of the production company Ébano (along with Pedro Pimenta and Licinio Azevedo), from which he later switched off to set up Promarte. He was the founder and general manager of the Promarte Production Company in Maputo, already having dozens of productions, including fiction films and documentaries.
