Mozambican Marcelino Tayob among UN officials killed in Ethiopian Airlines crash

The United Nations services in Mozambique today announced the death of a Mozambican official in the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash that killed 157 people on Sunday.
According to the same source, Marcelino Tayob was a senior adviser to the International Telecommunication Union in the regional offices of Addis Ababa.

“The tragedy profoundly affects the entire UN family,” United Nations Interim Resident Coordinator in Mozambique, Marcoluigi Corsi, said in a statement.
A total of 21 people working for agencies or organisations linked to the United Nations are among the dead.
“Today is a sad day for our organisation and for many around the world,” UN Secretary-General António Guterres said during a speech in the Assembly Chamber on Monday before the opening of the annual session of the Commission on the Status of Women.
