Florival Ernesto Luis Mucave, shareholder of luxury hotel White Pearl Resorts and Adrian Frey, Managing Director of Beluluane Industrial Park were appointed new leaders of the Swiss Mozambican Business Network at its first Annual General Assembly Meeting last week.
Mucave will act as President of the General Assembly and Frey will act as President of the Board. The newly elected executive board members are: Adrian Frey (Beluluane Industrial Park), Nicola Del Vecchio (MSC), Andreas Zeigler (Swiss Solar), Tony Abelho (ABB), Stefan Erik Von Euw (African Food Company), Mark Yamout (Sika) and Rogério Samo Gudo (MCNET SGS).
Established in 2017, the Swiss Business Network has been an informal networking platform for the Swiss investors in Mozambique, representing 45 members from companies including ABB, Sika, Nestle, MSC, Schindler, Bühler and Syngenta.
The first General Assembly meeting of 2019 saw the network transform itself into a formal organisation, namely the Mozambican – Swiss Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber’s main objective is to promote business relations between Switzerland and Mozambique.
Commenting on their vision, Adrian Frey said: “We are very pleased with the number of new Swiss investors showing an interest in Mozambique. President Filipe Nyusi visited Geneva in 2018 and commented that the Swiss can be slow to invest in Mozambique, however they are loyal and committed once they establish their business here.”
More than 1500 Mozambicans currently occupy formal positions within Swiss-Mozambican companies.
“Our vision is to work together with the private sector, Swiss Embassy and Swiss Corporation to improve the business environment and support job creation and training programmes in Mozambique,” said Frey.
