More than 300,000 jobs for young people were created last year alone, Minister of Youth and Sport Nyeleti Mondlane announced during the 2018 youth policy evaluation meeting.
Mozambique has a young population, which poses challenges in access to education, employment and other rights. It is up to the government to create policies that facilitate access to these rights, and is within this perspective that the executive says it created more than 300,000 jobs last year alone.
“More than 300,000 jobs have been created across the country against a planned 274,947, corresponding to 141% fulfilment, and a 24% growth on the 2017 figure,” Minister Mondlane said.
As for education, the government says it facilitated more scholarships than it had anticipated.
Minister Mondlane was speaking in Maputo on Friday at a meeting of the Inter-ministerial Committee in support of the development of teenagers and young people.
