Future Presidents of Mozambique photo exhibition @ CCP!
In a partnership between Helpo and the Portuguese Embassy in Mozambique, the exhibition 'Futuros Presidentes de Moçambique' will be inaugurated on 13 February at Camões - Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo.
A work signed by photographer Luís Mileu and writer Ricardo Henriques, who spent two weeks in Cabo Delgado and Nampula at the invitation of Helpo to capture the reality in which many Mozambican children live. This trip in the north of the country resulted in the work that will now be presented in Maputo.
The event is attended by the Portuguese Ambassador to Mozambique, Maria Amélia Paiva, and with the participation of the two authors of the exhibition that will be open to the public until March 29.
The exhibition shows the faces and tells the story of 20 children living in vulnerable rural areas, also showing the portrait of the communities in which they are inserted.
With this project Helpo intends to leave a strong message that through access to education any child can be anything they want, even President of the Republic. Believing that education can transform the lives of millions of children, warning of the importance of letting children be simply children, with the right to dream.
After the city of Maputo, the exhibition 'Futuros Presidentes de Moçambique' will cover other regions of the country, and can also be visited in Nampula, Ilha de Moçambique and Beira.
The project was produced by the creative agency Big Fish and was supported by Camões - Centro Cultural Português in Maputo, Millennium Bim, Galp, TAP and Hotel Pestana Rovuma.
This project of Luís Mileu and Ricardo Henriques has passed through Lisbon, in the Assembly of the Republic. During this year it will also pass through other Portuguese cities.
Since 2008, Helpo has been in northern Mozambique, where it operates directly in disadvantaged rural communities in Cabo Delgado and Nampula. This NGO works to promote development through education and nutrition.
