Maputo Military Hospital in Maputo has donated a half-hectare plot of land to the private Instituto do Coração (ICOR) health institution. The plot was transferred without charge for the development of activities in the sector, the Mozambican government announced on Tuesday.
“The government has approved the transfer of part of the Maputo Military Hospital [land] to ICOR,” Council of Ministers spokeswoman Ana Comana announced at the end of Tuesday’s Council of Ministers meeting.
The detachment consists of definitively assigning to ICOR a portion of land belonging to the Military Hospital that it had been seeking, with the intention of strengthening the provision of medical services and assistance to the general public and Ministry of Defence officials, Comoana explained.
“Because the government is ultimately responsible for providing public health, there is no involvement of values,” she added.
According to official figures, ICOR performed 170 surgical operations in 2017 in the context of humanitarian actions, in addition to providing regular hospital services.
