About Stella Mendonça
Stella Mendonça born August 10 1970 in Nampula studied voice and music history at the «Conservatoire National d’Art Dramatique» in Paris and Lyon, where she earned a “Bachelor in Music History” and “Master of Voice”.
She was invited in 1998 to perform at the World Exposition in Lisbon, followed by debuts as Mimì in "La Bohème" (Puccini) in the USA and in South Africa, as Helena in "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" (Britten), as Bess in "Porgy & Bess" (Gershwin) and as Santuzza in "Cavalleria Rusticana" (Mascagni) in Switzerland. In 2001/02 she sang the main role in Verdi's Aida in a concert version.
Her late Maestro Dennis Hall appointed her in 2002 to take over his voice school «studio di belcanto» (Technique by Garcia y Lamperti) in Berne.
In the same year, Stella debuted the first opera in the history of Mozambique “Carmen” (Bizet) in which she also performed the main role as Carmen.
Stella is fluent in seven languages and works in different cultural projects in Southern Africa, promoting the education of children and young talents.
About Sónia Mocumbi
While studying for the Diploma of Professional Skills and Piano Teaching in Switzerland, the pianist Mac Pantillon discovered in Sonia Mocumbi her passion and talent for singing. She had the privilege of working with Master Denis Hall in Bern. Sónia has participated in different solo concerts in Switzerland, France, the United States, Spain, South Africa and Mozambique. She sang in Bizet's opera "Carmen", and in several oratories.
