About Nelo João
Nelo João is a Mozambican singer, writer, idealist, lecturer and entrepreneur. As an artist he is a pianist, musician, composer, interpreter, guitarist, musical co-producer, artistic director.
He was born in Montepuez, Cabo Delgado province, son of a nurse and a driver and member of the armed forces of Mozambique. He is from a Christian and evangelical family and from the doctrines of the Assembly of God. He grew up in the Sanina neighbourhood, part of the great neighbourhood called Napai. It was in this religious context that Nelo João discovered his passion for music by singing in the choral group. At the age of 12 he presented, preaching and singing praises to God in his Christian community. With a high school education, he attended primary education at Montepuez Primary School and secondary education up to 9th grade at Montepuez High School. In 2002 he moved with his parents to Maputo.
