Documentary: Vagando Maputo
Aurore Vinot turns to photography during her studies in literature and cinema in Montreal and Paris where she obtained a Master's degree in writing and documentary production. She thus weaves the contours of a course fed by many disciplines, attaches as much stories only actors in his photo reports. The eclecticism of her passions allows her to produce several series in the framework of projects led by NGOs (Solidarités, Europaid ...) or on personal themes, in Burundi, Mozambique and Sarajevo.
During her first professional years, she completed her photo-journalistic activity by holding various positions in groups such as Lagardère and other press and documentary agencies. The call for field work led her to settle in South Africa where she will be a photographer on a documentary. Traveling through the region and surrounding countries, she maintains a strong connection with this part of the world where she lived for two years.
It was in 2017 that she decided to make her first long documentary, collecting the voices, stories and portraits of the intense Mozambican cultural life, thanks to "Vagando Maputo".
This film narrative is a tribute to the current creative forces of the country. It is also a way to better understand the history of this nation where art and creativity were a key factor in the construction of its identity after Portuguese independence in 1975.
Plunging into the artistic boom of the capital, I tried to represent these specificities and these leading figures, despite the confrontations and difficulties. This wandering in Maputo allows you to discover your impulses, your stigmas but also these unique creative energies.
