Mozambican authorities have found the body of one of the four South African tourists who went missing on Monday off Maputo’s Portuguese Island.
The two men and two women were part of a group of eight South African tourists who left the Nautical School in the Mozambican capital in a rented boat bound for Portuguese Island.
On their way, according to Dinis Titosse, a KaNyaka Municipal District councillor, they took a break on Inhaca Island for a meal.
Five of the tourists then went swimming. To the consternation of the remaining three, the bathers then disappeared. One was rescued by the pilot of the boat, according to the National Service of Public Safety (SENSAP).
The alarm was sounded and a multi-team search immediately began. Three people are still missing.
