Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation José Pacheco has said the main focus of the Portuguese-speaking country’s diplomacy lies in economic cooperation and attraction of private investment.
“The main goal is to accelerate economic cooperation, favouring trade and private investment in Mozambique,” Pacheco told reporters at the Presidency of the Republic in Maputo today.
The chief diplomat was speaking after presentation of credentials to President Filipe Nyusi by nine ambassadors in Mozambique, including new Brazilian diplomat Carlos Alfonso Iglesias Puente.
Before being appointed to Mozambique, Puente served in a similar portfolio in Tanzania since 2016.
Since 1985, he has served in the Embassy of Brazil in the Federal Republic of Germany, Bolivia, Angola and South Africa, and in the Consulates General in Toronto (Canada) and Barcelona (Spain).
Other ambassadors that presented their credentials include Yeo Sung-Jun (South Korea), Caroline Delany (Canada), Hatem Elalfy (Egypt), Eric Odoi-Anim (Ghana), Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre (Seychelles), Johann Brieger (Austria), Sohail Khan (Pakistan) and Andre Anguile (Gabon).
