Mozambique’s president, Filipe Nyusi, said on Tuesday in the capital, Maputo, that the country aims to be a main tourism destination by 2025, and defended measures to bolster the sector.
“The government’s aim is to make Mozambique a vibrant, dynamic destination in the tourism sector,” Nyusi said at the opening of the Congress of Culture and Tourism that kicked off on Tuesday in the Mozambican capital.
“Development of tourism demands a variety of services, including access roads, transport, health and safety,” he said.
He also stressed the importance of complementing culture and tourism.
“The country should make its material and immaterial cultural heritage a critical factor of national unity and development,” he said.
