The European Union (EU) injected US$10 million of aid for the organisation of the electoral procedures in Mozambique along with supporting the formation of democracy in the country.
The funds will be delivered under a five-year memorandum of understanding penned in Maputo by Mozambique Electoral Commission and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA).
National Electoral Commission chairman Abdul Carimo stated: “this will help in certain aspects such as strengthening of the civil society in monitoring electoral process, which is one of our weaknesses particularly during voting days and vote count.”
The ultimate objective, the chair stressed, is to guarantee the achievement of elections results acceptance for the efforts not to become at jeopardy.
