The Mozambican Public Prosecutor’s Office has closed the case relating to the discovery of the bodies of 17 Ethiopians citizens found in Sofala province last December, the institution said on Friday (October 26).
Sofala’s chief prosecutor, Carolina Azarias, said the case had been closed because the time legally stipulated for the investigation had run out.
Carolina Azarias said out that the bodies were thrown into the woods after dying of suffocation in the truck in which they were being transported.
“It was concluded that they were Ethiopians who had died of suffocation during an illegal immigration operation,” she said.
