The fifth edition of the Mozambique Gas Summit starts today. It will be held between 31 October and 2 November in Maputo, and discuss women’s participation in the extractive industry as well as local content.
The event, which is supported by Standard Bank, will bring together economic agents and national and international decision-makers in the oil and gas area, together with local, regional and international investors, to discuss Mozambique’s opportunities in the sector.
In addition to showcasing its know-how in the oil and gas area, Standard Bank will participate in panel discussions on “The Role of Technology and Innovation in Developing National Content & SMEs in Mozambique” and “Financing Gas and LNG Projects in Mozambique: Opportunities and Hurdles”.
According to Alfredo Mucavela, Director of Marketing and Communications of Standard Bank, the conference will attract investment to the country and provide an opportunity for various specialists to contribute their experience and knowledge in unblocking processes already underway in the oil and gas area in Mozambique.
“This is an opportunity for local small and medium enterprises to sit down with the large multinationals operating in the sector and look at how they can be part of the natural gas exploitation value chain,” Mucavela indicated.
This is why Standard Bank is supporting the conference which, in addition to the financial component, is expected to allow specialists in the area share to knowledge and assist in the consolidation of ideas that can help the country to maximise its opportunities.
Standard Bank is the only national bank that has participated in the approximately US$8 billion financing for the construction of the Floating Liquefied Natural Gas Platform in Cabo Delgado’s Rovuma basin, a project which is foreseen as helping the country to restore a faster pace of growth.
